Roundcube, a webmail frontend, released versions 1.6.17 and 1.7.2 on Jul 5 that address numerous XSS and other vulnerabilities. From the release announcement at <https://roundcube.net/news/2026/07/05/security-updates-1.6.17-and-1.7.2>:
Fix an infinite loop in TNEF (winmail.dat) decoder (#10193), reported by stafra. Fix various vulnerabilities in the password plugin using session-injected username, reported by Glendaenri and peppersghost. Fix stored XSS via unescaped attachment MIME type on the attachment-validation warning page [CVE-2026-54432], reported by Bohdan Kurinnoy, Samsung R&D Institute Ukraine (SRUKR). Fix SSRF bypass via specific local address URLs - two new cases, reported by Leenear. Fix zero-click stored XSS in plain-text rendering [CVE-2026-54433], reported by Bohdan Kurinnoy, Samsung R&D Institute Ukraine (SRUKR). Fix DoS via crafted compressed-RTF size in the TNEF (winmail.dat) file, reported by h0rk1p.
In a positive development, the announcement now includes some though not all CVE identifiers; numbers in square brackets are in the original text. Interested parties may consult for example <https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/roundcube> for the rest.
Also final reminder that support for the 1.5 LTS release has ended and it presumably is vulnerable to at least some of the above, as well as to things that got fixed in the 1.6.16/1.7.1 security roundup.

A Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in rcmailactionmailget->run() in Roundcube through 1.5.7 and 1.6.x through 1.6.7 allows a remote attacker to steal and send emails of a victim via a malicious e-mail attachment served with a dangerous Content-Type header.

Roundcube before 1.3.17 and 1.4.x before 1.4.12 is prone to XSS in handling an attachment's filename extension when displaying a MIME type warning message.
Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Roundcube Mail <=1.4.4 via smtp config in /installer/test.php.
Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulneraibility in Roundcube mail .4.4 via database host and user in /installer/test.php.
Roundcube before 1.4.11 allows XSS via crafted Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) token sequences during HTML email rendering.
Roundcube Webmail before 1.3.15 and 1.4.8 allows stored XSS in HTML messages during message display via a crafted SVG document. This issue has been fixed in 1.4.8 and 1.3.15.
An issue was discovered in Roundcube Webmail before 1.2.11, 1.3.x before 1.3.14, and 1.4.x before 1.4.7. It allows XSS via a crafted HTML e-mail message, as demonstrated by a JavaScript payload in the xmlns (aka XML namespace) attribute of a HEAD element when an SVG element exists.
An issue was discovered in Roundcube Webmail before 1.3.12 and 1.4.x before 1.4.5. include/rcmailoutputhtml.php allows XSS via the username template object.
Roundcube Webmail before 1.4.4 allows attackers to include local files and execute code via directory traversal in a plugin name to rcubepluginapi.php.
An issue was discovered in Roundcube Webmail before 1.4.4. A CSRF attack can cause an authenticated user to be logged out because POST was not considered.
An issue was discovered in Roundcube Webmail before 1.4.4. There is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in rcubewashtml.php because JavaScript code can occur in the CDATA of an HTML message.
Roundcube Webmail through 1.3.9 mishandles Punycode xn-- domain names, leading to homograph attacks.
In Roundcube Webmail before 1.3.10, an attacker in possession of S/MIME or PGP encrypted emails can wrap them as sub-parts within a crafted multipart email. The encrypted part(s) can further be hidden using HTML/CSS or ASCII newline characters. This modified multipart email can be re-sent by the attacker to the intended receiver. If the receiver replies to this (benign looking) email, they unknowingly leak the plaintext of the encrypted message part(s) back to the attacker.
Roundcube before 1.3.7 mishandles GnuPG MDC integrity-protection warnings, which makes it easier for attackers to obtain sensitive information, a related issue to CVE-2017-17688. This is associated with plugins/enigma/lib/enigmadrivergnupg.php.
roundcube version 1.3.4 and earlier contains an Insecure Permissions vulnerability in enigma plugin that can result in exfiltration of gpg private key. This attack appear to be exploitable via network connectivity.
Roundcube Webmail 1.1.x before 1.1.2 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information by reading files in the (1) config, (2) temp, or (3) logs directory.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in program/include/rcmail.php in Roundcube Webmail 1.1.x before 1.1.2 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the mbox parameter to the default URI.
program/steps/addressbook/photo.inc in Roundcube Webmail before 1.0.6 and 1.1.x before 1.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files via the alt parameter when uploading a vCard.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail before 1.0.9 and 1.1.x before 1.1.5 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted SVG, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-8864.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail before 1.0.9 and 1.1.x before 1.1.5 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted SVG, a different vulnerability than CVE-2016-4068.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail before 1.2.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the href attribute in an area tag in an e-mail message.
steps/mail/sendmail.inc in Roundcube before 1.1.7 and 1.2.x before 1.2.3, when no SMTP server is configured and the sendmail program is enabled, does not properly restrict the use of custom envelope-from addresses on the sendmail command line, which allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a modified HTTP request that sends a crafted e-mail message.
Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail before 1.1.5 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of users for requests that download attachments and cause a denial of service (disk consumption) via unspecified vectors.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in program/js/app.js in Roundcube webmail before 1.0.7 and 1.1.x before 1.1.3 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the file name in a drag-n-drop file upload.
program/lib/Roundcube/rcubewashtml.php in Roundcube before 1.0.5 does not properly quote strings, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via the style attribute in an email.
