Code Injection
AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Cockpit CMS contains an authenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the /cockpit/collections/savecollection endpoint that allows authenticated attackers with collection management privileges to inject arbitrary PHP code into collection rules parameters. Attackers can inject malicious PHP code through rule parameters which is written directly to server-side PHP files and executed via include() to achieve arbitrary command execution on the underlying server.

Cockpit CMS through version 2.14.0, patched in commit 72a83fc, contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Set field type's Display template option, where the template string is processed by the $interpolate function using new Function() and rendered via Vue's v-html directive without sanitization. An attacker with content/:models/manage permission can inject arbitrary JavaScript into the Display template, which executes in the browser of any user viewing the collection items list.

SQL Injection
AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N

Impact

This is a SQL Injection vulnerability in the MongoLite Aggregation Optimizer.

Any Cockpit CMS instance running version 2.13.4 or earlier with API access enabled is potentially affected.

Who is impacted: - Any deployment where the /api/content/aggregate/{model} endpoint is publicly accessible or reachable by untrusted users. - Attackers in possession of a valid read-only API key (the lowest privilege level) can exploit this vulnerability — no admin access is required.

What an attacker can do: - Inject arbitrary SQL via unsanitized field names in aggregation queries. - Bypass the state=1 published-content filter to access unpublished or restricted content. - Extract unauthorized data from the underlying SQLite content database.

Confidentiality impact is High. Integrity and availability are not directly affected by this vulnerability.

Patches

This vulnerability has been patched in version 2.13.5.

All users running Cockpit CMS version 2.13.4 or earlier are strongly advised to upgrade to 2.13.5 or later immediately.

The fix applies the same field-name sanitization introduced in v2.13.3 for toJsonPath() to the toJsonExtractRaw() method in lib/MongoLite/Aggregation/Optimizer.php, closing the injection vector in the Aggregation Optimizer.

Cockpit Content Platform through version 2.2.1 is vulnerable to a two-factor authentication (2FA) bypass. The 2FA secret is disclosed in a JWT token after user logs into their account, allowing an attacker to bypass the 2FA code. A patch is available on the develop branch and is expected to be part of version 2.2.2.
