Impact
Using Babel to compile code that was specifically crafted by an attacker can lead to arbitrary code execution during compilation, when using plugins that rely on the path.evaluate()or path.evaluateTruthy() internal Babel methods.
Known affected plugins are: - @babel/plugin-transform-runtime - @babel/preset-env when using its useBuiltIns option - Any "polyfill provider" plugin that depends on @babel/helper-define-polyfill-provider, such as babel-plugin-polyfill-corejs3, babel-plugin-polyfill-corejs2, babel-plugin-polyfill-es-shims, babel-plugin-polyfill-regenerator
No other plugins under the @babel/ namespace are impacted, but third-party plugins might be.
Users that only compile trusted code are not impacted.
Patches
The vulnerability has been fixed in @babel/traverse@7.23.2.
Babel 6 does not receive security fixes anymore (see Babel's security policy), hence there is no patch planned for babel-traverse@6.
Workarounds
- Upgrade @babel/traverse to v7.23.2 or higher. You can do this by deleting it from your package manager's lockfile and re-installing the dependencies. @babel/core >=7.23.2 will automatically pull in a non-vulnerable version. - If you cannot upgrade @babel/traverse and are using one of the affected packages mentioned above, upgrade them to their latest version to avoid triggering the vulnerable code path in affected @babel/traverse versions: - @babel/plugin-transform-runtime v7.23.2 - @babel/preset-env v7.23.2 - @babel/helper-define-polyfill-provider v0.4.3 - babel-plugin-polyfill-corejs2 v0.4.6 - babel-plugin-polyfill-corejs3 v0.8.5 - babel-plugin-polyfill-es-shims v0.10.0 - babel-plugin-polyfill-regenerator v0.5.3

Mediawiki v1.40.0 does not validate namespaces used in XML files.
Therefore, if the instance administrator allows XML file uploads,
a remote attacker with a low-privileged user account can use this
exploit to become an administrator by sending a malicious link to
the instance administrator.
paraparser in ReportLab before 3.5.31 allows remote code execution because startunichar in paraparser.py evaluates untrusted user input in a unichar element in a crafted XML document with '<unichar code="' followed by arbitrary Python code, a similar issue to CVE-2019-17626.
A Type Confusion vulnerability was found in the Spotlight RPC functions in afpd in Netatalk 3.1.x before 3.1.17. When parsing Spotlight RPC packets, one encoded data structure is a key-value style dictionary where the keys are character strings, and the values can be any of the supported types in the underlying protocol. Due to a lack of type checking in callers of the dallocvalueforkey() function, which returns the object associated with a key, a malicious actor may be able to fully control the value of the pointer and theoretically achieve Remote Code Execution on the host. This issue is similar to CVE-2023-34967.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Versions of FreeRDP on the 3.x release branch before beta3 are subject to a Use-After-Free in processing RDPGFXCMDIDRESETGRAPHICS packets. If context->maxPlaneSize is 0, context->planesBuffer will be freed. However, without updating context->planesBuffer, this leads to a Use-After-Free exploit vector. In most environments this should only result in a crash. This issue has been addressed in version 3.0.0-beta3 and users of the beta 3.x releases are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. In affected versions a missing offset validation may lead to an Out Of Bound Read in the function gdimultiopaquerect. In particular there is no code to validate if the value multiopaquerect->numRectangles is less than 45. Looping through multiopaquerect->numRectangles without proper boundary checks can lead to Out-of-Bounds Read errors which will likely lead to a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an invalid offset validation leading to Out Of Bound Write. This can be triggered when the values rect->left and rect->top are exactly equal to surface->width and surface->height. eg. rect->left == surface->width && rect->top == surface->height. In practice this should cause a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to a missing offset validation leading to Out Of Bound Read. In the libfreerdp/codec/rfx.c file there is no offset validation in tile->quantIdxY, tile->quantIdxCb, and tile->quantIdxCr. As a result crafted input can lead to an out of bounds read access which in turn will cause a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an Out-Of-Bounds Write in the cleardecompressbandsdata function in which there is no offset validation. Abuse of this vulnerability may lead to an out of bounds write. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. there are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an Out-Of-Bounds Write in the progressivedecompress function. This issue is likely down to incorrect calculations of the nXSrc and nYSrc variables. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. there are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an Out-Of-Bounds Read in the generalLumaToYUV444 function. This Out-Of-Bounds Read occurs because processing is done on the in variable without checking if it contains data of sufficient length. Insufficient data for the in variable may cause errors or crashes. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an Integer-Underflow leading to Out-Of-Bound Read in the zgfxdecompresssegment function. In the context of CopyMemory, it's possible to read data beyond the transmitted packet range and likely cause a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an IntegerOverflow leading to Out-Of-Bound Write Vulnerability in the gdiCreateSurface function. This issue affects FreeRDP based clients only. FreeRDP proxies are not affected as image decoding is not done by a proxy. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
An issue was discovered in FRRouting FRR through 9.0. bgpd/bgppacket.c can read the initial byte of the ORF header in an ahead-of-stream situation.
An XML External Entity (XXE) issue was discovered in Python through 3.9.1. The plistlib module no longer accepts entity declarations in XML plist files to avoid XML vulnerabilities.

Improper Validation of Array Index vulnerability in the spreadsheet component of The Document Foundation LibreOffice allows an attacker to craft a spreadsheet document that will cause an array index underflow when loaded. In the affected versions of LibreOffice certain malformed spreadsheet formulas, such as AGGREGATE, could be created with less parameters passed to the formula interpreter than it expected, leading to an array index underflow, in which case there is a risk that arbitrary code could be executed. This issue affects: The Document Foundation LibreOffice 7.4 versions prior to 7.4.6; 7.5 versions prior to 7.5.1.
In Artifex Ghostscript through 10.01.0, there is a buffer overflow leading to potential corruption of data internal to the PostScript interpreter, in base/sbcp.c. This affects BCPEncode, BCPDecode, TBCPEncode, and TBCPDecode. If the write buffer is filled to one byte less than full, and one then tries to write an escaped character, two bytes are written.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Netatalk. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the copyapplfile function. When parsing the len element, the process does not properly validate the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.

GNU Emacs through 28.2 allows attackers to execute commands via shell metacharacters in the name of a source-code file, because lib-src/etags.c uses the system C library function in its implementation of the etags program. For example, a victim may use the "etags -u " command (suggested in the etags documentation) in a situation where the current working directory has contents that depend on untrusted input.
An integer underflow in Organization Specific TLV was found in various versions of OpenvSwitch.
An out-of-bounds read in Organization Specific TLV was found in various versions of OpenvSwitch.
An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in the OpenImageIO::addexifitemtospec functionality of OpenImageIO Project OpenImageIO v2.4.4.2. Specially-crafted exif metadata can lead to stack-based memory corruption. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.
A heap out of bounds read vulnerability exists in the handling of IPTC data while parsing TIFF images in OpenImageIO v2.3.19.0. A specially-crafted TIFF file can cause a read of adjacent heap memory, which can leak sensitive process information. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.
A heap based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the PSD thumbnail resource parsing code of OpenImageIO 2.3.19.0. A specially-crafted PSD file can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.
