A Missing Authentication for Critical Function vulnerability combined with a Generation of Error Message Containing Sensitive Information vulnerability in J-Web of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series and EX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to access sensitive system information.
When a user logs in, a temporary file which contains the configuration of the device (as visible to that user) is created in the /cache folder. An unauthenticated attacker can then attempt to access such a file by sending a specific request to the device trying to guess the name of such a file. Successful exploitation will reveal configuration information.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series and EX Series: All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S9; 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S7; 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S6; 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S5; 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3; 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S2; 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R3; 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2.
An Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') vulnerability in J-Web of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series and EX Series allows an attacker to construct a URL that when visited by another user enables the attacker to execute commands with the target's permissions, including an administrator.
A specific invocation of the emitdebugnote method in webauthoperation.php will echo back the data it receives.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series and EX Series: All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S10; 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S8; 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S6; 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S5; 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3; 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S2; 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R3-S1; 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R2; 23.4 versions earlier than 23.4R2.
An Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS).
On all Junos OS MX Series and SRX Series platforms, when SIP ALG is enabled, and a specific SIP packet is received and processed, NAT IP allocation fails for genuine traffic, which causes Denial of Service (DoS). Continuous receipt of this specific SIP ALG packet will cause a sustained DoS condition.
NAT IP usage can be monitored by running the following command.

An Exposure of Resource to Wrong Sphere vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to bypass the intended access restrictions.
In an Abstracted Fabric (AF) scenario if routing-instances (RI) are configured, specific valid traffic destined to the device can bypass the configured lo0 firewall filters as it's received in the wrong RI context.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series:
All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S9; 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S3; 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S5; 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3; 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3; 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000 Series allows a network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).
If a specific valid IP packet is received and that packet needs to be routed over a VXLAN tunnel, this will result in a PFE wedge condition due to which traffic gets impacted. As this is not a crash and restart scenario, this condition will persist until the system is rebooted to recover.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000: 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S5; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S1; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S2, 22.3R2.
An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in packet processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker to send specific packets to an Aggregated Multiservices (AMS) interface on the device, causing the packet forwarding engine (PFE) to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
This issue is only triggered by packets destined to a local-interface via a service-interface (AMS). AMS is only supported on the MS-MPC, MS-MIC, and MX-SPC3 cards. This issue is not experienced on other types of interfaces or configurations. Additionally, transit traffic does not trigger this issue.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: All versions prior to 19.1R3-S10; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S7; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S8; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S12; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S8; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S7; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S2; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S1, 22.3R3; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R1-S2, 22.4R2.
An Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the UTM (Unified Threat Management) Web-Filtering feature of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series causes a jbuf memory leak to occur when accessing certain websites, eventually leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Service restoration is only possible by rebooting the system.
The jbuf memory leak only occurs in SSL Proxy and UTM Web-Filtering configurations. Other products, platforms, and configurations are not affected by this vulnerability.
This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series: 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S1, 22.3R3; 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R1-S2, 22.4R2.
This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 22.2R2.
An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in packet processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, network-adjacent attacker sending a specifically malformed ICMP packet to cause an FPC to crash and restart, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
When an ICMP packet is received with a specifically malformed IP header value, the FPC receiving the packet crashes and restarts. Due to the specific type of malformed packet, adjacent upstream routers would not forward the packet, limiting the attack surface to adjacent networks.
This issue only affects ICMPv4. ICMPv6 is not vulnerable to this issue.
This issue does not affect AFT-based line cards such as the MPC10, MPC11, LC4800, LC9600, and MX304.

An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When a BGP update message is received over an established BGP session, and that message contains a specific, optional transitive attribute, this session will be torn down with an update message error. This issue cannot propagate beyond an affected system as the processing error occurs as soon as the update is received. This issue is exploitable remotely as the respective attribute can propagate through unaffected systems and intermediate AS (if any). Continuous receipt of a BGP update containing this attribute will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Some customers have experienced these BGP session flaps which prompted Juniper SIRT to release this advisory out of cycle before fixed releases are widely available as there is an effective workaround.

A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of the Juniper Networks Junos OS on the MX Series platforms with Trio-based FPCs allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).
In case of channelized Modular Interface Cards (MICs), every physical interface flap operation will leak heap memory. Over a period of time, continuous physical interface flap operations causes local FPC to eventually run out of memory and crash.
Below CLI command can be used to check the memory usage over a period of time:
user@host> show chassis fpc
Temp CPU Utilization (%) CPU Utilization (%) Memory Utilization (%) Slot State (C) Total Interrupt 1min 5min 15min DRAM (MB) Heap Buffer
0 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14
1 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14
2 Online 43 41 2 2048 49 14
This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series:
All versions before 21.2R3-S7, from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S6, from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S2, from 22.4 before 22.4R3, from 23.2 before 23.2R2, from 23.4 before 23.4R2.
A Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition vulnerability in the AgentD process of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an attacker who is already causing impact to established sessions which generates counter changes picked up by the AgentD process during telemetry polling, to move the AgentD process into a state where AgentD attempts to reap an already destroyed sensor. This reaping attempt then leads to memory corruption causing the FPC to crash which is a Denial of Service (DoS).
The FPC will recover automatically without user intervention after the crash. This issue affects Junos OS:
All versions before 21.4R3-S9 From 22.2 before 22.2R3-S5, From 22.3 before 22.3R3-S4, From 22.4 before 22.4R3-S3, From 23.2 before 23.2R2-S2, From 23.4 before 23.4R2.
This issue does not affect Junos OS Evolved.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the http daemon (httpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series, QFX Series, MX Series and EX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause Denial-of-Service (DoS).
An attacker can send specific HTTPS connection requests to the device, triggering the creation of processes that are not properly terminated. Over time, this leads to resource exhaustion, ultimately causing the device to crash and restart.
The following command can be used to monitor the resource usage: user@host> show system processes extensive | match mgd | count
This issue affects Junos OS on SRX Series and EX Series: All versions before 21.4R3-S7, from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S4, from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3, from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S2, from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S1, from 23.4 before 23.4R1-S2, 23.4R2.
A Use of Incorrect Byte Ordering
vulnerability
in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX300 Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS).
When a BGP update is received over an established BGP session which contains a specific, valid, optional, transitive path attribute, rpd will crash and restart.
This issue affects eBGP and iBGP over IPv4 and IPv6.
This issue affects:
Junos OS:
22.1 versions from 22.1R1 before 22.2R3-S4, 22.3 versions before 22.3R3-S3, 22.4 versions before 22.4R3-S2, 23.2 versions before 23.2R2, 23.4 versions before 23.4R2.
A Reachable Assertion vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS).
When the device receives a specific BGP UPDATE packet, the rpd crashes and restarts. Continuous receipt of this specific packet will cause a sustained DoS condition.
For the issue to occur, BGP multipath with "pause-computation-during-churn" must be configured on the device, and the attacker must send the paths via a BGP UPDATE from a established BGP peer.
This issue affects: Junos OS: All versions before 21.4R3-S7, from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3, from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S5, from 23.2 before 23.2R2, from 23.4 before 23.4R2.
Junos OS Evolved: All versions before 21.4R3-S7-EVO, from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S5-EVO, from 23.2 before 23.2R2-EVO, from 23.4 before 23.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Validation of Consistency within Input vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker sending a specifically malformed BGP packet to cause rpd to crash and restart, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
In some cases, rpd fails to restart requiring a manual restart via the 'restart routing' CLI command.
This issue only affects systems with BGP traceoptions enabled and
requires a BGP session to be already established. Systems without BGP traceoptions enabled are not affected by this issue.
This issue affects iBGP and eBGP, and both IPv4 and IPv6 are affected by this vulnerability.
This issue affects:
Junos OS:
All versions before 21.4R3-S8, 22.2 before 22.2R3-S5, 22.3 before 22.3R3-S4, 22.4 before 22.4R3-S3, 23.2 before 23.2R2-S2, 23.4 before 23.4R2;
Junos OS Evolved:
All versions before 21.4R3-S8-EVO, 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S5-EVO, 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S4-EVO, 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-S3-EVO, 23.2-EVO before 23.2R2-S2-EVO, 23.4-EVO before 23.4R2-EVO.
A Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to send specific RPKI-RTR packets resulting in a crash, creating a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
