Remedy

This flaw can be mitigated by setting the sysctl parameter (/proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_min_rtt_wlen) with 300 which means the packet time will not exceed more then 5 minutes and which should not cause an integer overflow.

An issue was discovered in disableprivmode in shell.c in GNU Bash through 5.0 patch 11. By default, if Bash is run with its effective UID not equal to its real UID, it will drop privileges by setting its effective UID to its real UID. However, it does so incorrectly. On Linux and other systems that support "saved UID" functionality, the saved UID is not dropped. An attacker with command execution in the shell can use "enable -f" for runtime loading of a new builtin, which can be a shared object that calls setuid() and therefore regains privileges. However, binaries running with an effective UID of 0 are unaffected.

An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.10.1, as used with Xen through 4.14.x. The Linux kernel PV block backend expects the kernel thread handler to reset ring->xenblkd to NULL when stopped. However, the handler may not have time to run if the frontend quickly toggles between the states connect and disconnect. As a consequence, the block backend may re-use a pointer after it was freed. A misbehaving guest can trigger a dom0 crash by continuously connecting / disconnecting a block frontend. Privilege escalation and information leaks cannot be ruled out. This only affects systems with a Linux blkback.

Remedy

A possible workaround for this flaw is to configure IPsec for all traffic between the endpoints, instead of specifically for the UDP port used by the GENEVE tunnels. If GENEVE tunnels are not used, this flaw will not be triggered. In that case, it is possible to disable those tunnels, by unloading the "geneve" kernel module and blacklisting it (See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for a guide on how to blacklist modules).

This issue can be avoided by using at least one of the following recommendations: * Do not enable automatic generation of Referer headers when redirects are followed. This functionality is not enabled by default. In the curl command line tool, it is enabled using the -e ';auto' or --referer ';auto' command line options. In the libcurl library, it is enabled using the CURLOPT_AUTOREFERER option. * Do not include authentication credentials in URLs (in the form of https://username:password@example.com), use other methods to provide authentication credentials to curl / libcurl. A vulnerability was found in NTP. A security issue which enables an off-path attacker to prevent ntpd from synchronizing with NTP servers not using authentication. A server mode packet with spoofed source address sent to the client ntpd causes the next transmission to be rescheduled, even if the packet doesn't have a valid origin timestamp. If the packet is sent to the client frequently enough, it will stop polling the server and not be able to synchronize with it.

A malformed query response received by a recursive server in response to a query of RTYPE ANY could trigger an assertion failure while named is attempting to add the RRs in the query response to the cache. While the combination of properties which triggers the assertion should not occur in normal traffic, it is potentially possible for the assertion to be triggered deliberately by an attacker sending a specially-constructed answer having the required properties, after having engineered a scenario whereby an ANY query is sent to the recursive server for the target QNAME. A recursive server will itself only send a query of type ANY if it receives a client query of type ANY for a QNAME for which it has no RRsets at all in cache, otherwise it will respond to the client with the the RRsets that it has available.

This vulnerability occurs during the processing of an answer packet received in response to a query. As a result, recursive servers are at the greatest risk; authoritative servers are at risk only to the extent that they perform a limited set of queries.

A defect in BIND's handling of responses containing a DNAME answer can cause a resolver to exit after encountering an assertion failure in db.c or resolver.c

During processing of a recursive response that contains a DNAME record in the answer section, BIND can stop execution after encountering an assertion error in resolver.c (error message: "INSIST((valoptions & 0x0002U) != 0) failed") or db.c (error message: "REQUIRE(targetp != ((void )0) && targetp == ((void )0)) failed").

A server encountering either of these error conditions will stop, resulting in denial of service to clients. The risk to authoritative servers is minimal; recursive servers are chiefly at risk.
