Remediation
Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.
- Compensating control
Until a vendor fix is available and applied, reduce exposure by applying compensating controls: restrict access to AEM author/publisher interfaces to trusted IPs or VPNs, deploy WAF rules to detect/block XSS payloads, and implement/strengthen a Content Security Policy (CSP) to limit execution of injected scripts. Additionally, advise users to avoid visiting untrusted or suspicious webpages (exploitation requires user interaction).
- Operational
Inventory all Adobe Experience Manager instances and identify any running versions described as vulnerable: 6.5.24, LTS SP1, 2026.04 and earlier. Treat those instances as potentially vulnerable to DOM-based XSS.
- Operational
Monitor Adobe security advisories for an official patch or fixed release for this DOM-based XSS issue and plan to apply the vendor-provided update as soon as it is published.
